I am new to the VMware arena. I tried to create a virtual machine on VMware workstation 8.0.4 build-744019 using Fedora-17-i686-Live-Desktop.iso and was able to do that just fine.
The issue is installing VMware tools for the same. I have created various VM including ubuntu and was able to install VMware tools without any issue.I also tried to follow the following steps but it does not seem to work:
VMware Tools in a Fedora 17 Desktop Edition Guest
You can install VMware Tools in the Fedora 17 guest using the tar installer.
Installation Steps
- Open a terminal window.
- Log in as a root user.
- Click Install/Upgrade VMware Tools to mount the VMware Tools virtual disc on the guest operating system.
- Run the VMware Tools installer.
vmware-install.pl - Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
I cant seem to find exact instructions to install the same on the VM. If someone can provide a walkthrough to do the same as its looking like a helluva job to do with Fedora 17Desk.
Cheers
