In Workstation 7 I used to set a large system cache (NtfsMemoryUsage = 2) to catch disk access from the VMs. Tweaks like hard-disk.hostBuffer = enabled help to optimize it. This way the VMs boots and snapshot restores only takes a few seconds. But in workstation 8 seems that the snapshots no longer use system cache and stores and fetch the data directly to disk, so now the snapshot restores could take a couple of minutes to perform. This is really ackward because now I've to wait minutes instead of seconds to perform this action.
What can I do? Is there a parameter I can set to have this functionality back in Workstation 8?
