I am not sure if this is related to my 'Awful Performance" thread, so I'll split this off and ask in a new thread.
Immediately after our linked clone desktop VM's are created, our delta VMDK's start swelling to around 1.5GB on average. This is before any user has ever logged in to the VM and even seems to be occuring/in progress well after the View agent has reported for duty to the View Manager.
Does that seem normal? 1.5GB per desktop seems like an awful lot of changes just to join the domain. After I log into one of these VM's it grows another ~200M. We are deleting the VM's on logoff due to some weird monitor issues that occur with refresh, so this is 1.5GB of space and IOPs that are going to be regenerated for every VM, every day when a user logs off.
Is there some way to peek into a delta VMDK and see what changes it is recording? Just the filenames would help.
